The Explorers Education Programme inspires educators, school teachers and their children about the importance of Ireland’s ocean wealth through STEM, STEAM and cross curricular modules, lesson plans and activities in the classroom and on the seashore.
The programme aims to works with primary schools promoting our marine and maritime identity, engage in the environment, as well as increase our awareness and understanding of Ireland’s marine biodiversity, and the value and societal benefits of the ocean.
The Explorers Education Programme strategic development is managed by the Camden Education Trust and is supported by a wide network of stakeholders. This includes marine scientists and researchers at the Marine Institute, the Explorers outreach teams around the coast of Ireland, third level educators and marine experts, enthusiasts from industry, as well as key stakeholders in the wider community.
The Explorers Education Programme is funded by the Marine Institute, Ireland’s state agency for marine research, technology development and innovation.
